Fine Arts

The fine arts program at LCCS gives students the opportunity to pursue their interests and use their talents in many creative and artistic arenas. Visual art opportunities include drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, and videography. Performing art opportunities include concert band, string ensemble, choir, worship team, and theater productions. Students are involved in local and regional festivals and competitions each year.

All elementary and middle school (grades 7 and 8) students will take art and music classes as part of their weekly class load. A yearly drama production will be performed and middle school students will be given the opportunity to audition for a part in the production.

Middle School Art & Music

  • In art class students explore a wide variety of mediums including painting, ceramics, and drawings. They will expand their knowledge in the use of 2-D and 3-D design. Students are required to complete sketchbook assignments which reinforce techniques learned in class. In seventh grade, students expand their knowledge to include the principles of design. Eighth grade students focus their efforts on using their eyes to learn rendering skills and explore their own creativity.
  • In music, students are afforded the options to join vocal and instrumental ensembles, including band and orchestra. Seventh graders are taught the use of the acoustic guitar and learn to play simple chords. While in eighth grade, students are taught music appreciation. Students have the option to explore private music lessons with our faculty and sectional lessons based on availability.
