The Importance of Being Earnest

The Importance of Being Earnest is a comedic classic play by Oscar Wilde which explores mistaken identity, love, and hypocrisy through the witty use of language and social satire. The story centers on two men who create alter egos, leading to a delightful entanglement of misunderstandings and romantic pursuits amidst the superficiality of high society in Victorian England.  The Importance of Being Earnest is a masterpiece of high comedy, sparkling with an inspiring message —a person's name and heritage mean little; it's what you make of yourself that counts. This wildly popular and frequently performed play has been staged in countless productions worldwide since its premiere in 1895.

The 45-minute upper school production will be opened by a short skit, The Shadow of Peter Pan by John Biscello, performed by middle school theatre students. Both casts are led by director Holly Wert.
