University-Model®

LCCS is pleased to offer the University-Model® program as an option for lower school students (kindergarten - grade 6). This five-day academic program offers a solution for parents who desire both the gift of time with their children as well as the services of a Christian school with the integration of a biblically-based, parentally-guided, Christian faith and a quality, teacher-directed, academic experience. Parents partner with LCCS faculty in the educational process. Under the supervision of the qualified educator, parents are required to provide oversight responsibilities of their children’s coursework in the satellite classroom at home. They also serve as assistant teachers by providing extension, enrichment, tutoring, and study skills instruction.

University-Model® (UM) students come to the central classroom (on campus) two or three days per week (depending on their grade) and learn through teacher-directed activities with a parent in the satellite classroom (at home) the remainder of the week. The teachers are in charge of all direct instruction in the central classroom, and they encourage and expect students to learn the material assigned through independent practice and homework. Teachers also provide consistent feedback to students and parents regarding the progress in each class. The parent acts as the assistant teacher during satellite days by providing guidance and support.
