Top 10 Questions Lancaster County Parents Ask Before Choosing a School

Choosing a school is a big decision, and most families arrive at our office with a similar list of questions. Here are the ten we hear most often — answered honestly.

  1. What does tuition actually cost after financial aid? Most LCCS families receive some form of tuition assistance, and the real cost is often far lower than the published rate. We’ll walk through the numbers with you before you apply.

  2. What’s the student-teacher ratio? About 9 to 1 across the school, which means your child is known, not just enrolled.

  3. Is faith part of every subject, or just chapel? Every subject at LCCS is taught through a Biblical worldview — faith shapes the whole day, not one period of it.

  4. What’s the best way to really get a feel for the school? Schedule a tour or attend an Open House or Kindergarten Discovery Day — walking the halls and meeting teachers tells you more than any website can.

  5. Do you offer anything besides a traditional five-day schedule? Yes — our University-Model® program blends in-classroom instruction with days at home, popular with homeschooling families who want more structure and community.

  6. What accreditations does LCCS hold? LCCS is accredited through the Association of Christian Schools International, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Cognia, the Mid-Atlantic Christian Schools Association, and the National Association of University-Model Schools (NAUMS).

  7. How is character and discipline handled? Character formation is built into daily classroom life and mentorship, not just handled reactively when something goes wrong.

  8. What extracurriculars and athletics are available? LCCS Lions compete in soccer, basketball, baseball, golf, track and field, and volleyball, alongside drama, choir, and clubs spanning STEM, entrepreneurship, and the arts.

  9. What’s the admissions timeline? Applications are accepted year-round, with priority financial aid consideration tied to a March 30 deadline for returning and many new families.

  10. Is there support for students who learn differently? Yes. Our Assisted Learning program supports students who learn differently, and we’d be glad to talk through your child’s needs and what that support could look like at LCCS.

Still Have Questions?

That’s exactly what our admissions team is for. If your question isn’t on this list, reach out — we’d rather answer it directly than have you guess.
