By Nate D. Long, Head of School
As we dive into the Word of God and look at our theme for this school year — Abide, John 15:5 Jesus tells us, "I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." What does it mean to Abide in Jesus? I love this definition from my ESV Study Bible: "Abiding in Jesus means to continue in a daily, personal relationship with Jesus characterized by trust, prayer, obedience, and joy." How are we both Abiding in Jesus individually and also doing so with our children? This is our role as parents — to teach our children what it means to abide in Christ and to disciple them through this process. This year I challenge you to be intentional about daily scripture reading and daily prayer with your children. Make it a rhythm of how you abide as a family.
Gracefully,
Nate
