By Nate D. Long, Head of School
Returning to school brings with it a return to routine. I know that throughout my life I have had to be very intentional about routine. My wife has been extremely influential in creating good routines for myself and our family. As I work to Abide in Jesus, by continuing in a daily, personal relationship with Him characterized by trust, prayer, obedience, and joy, routine has been a foundation to developing this relationship. James 4:8 reminds us that if we “Draw near to God, he will draw near to us.” As we continue in our school year, I pray that we build a daily rhythm and routine with intentional moments that help us Abide in Jesus.
Doing this with our children is a crucial part of our role as disciple makers. A recent Lifeway study showed that the number one indicator of young people staying committed to a faithful walk with Jesus was reading scripture daily. The second is spending time in prayer. As parents it is vital that we are creating these routines in the lives of our family. I challenged our students this week to spend time in God's Word each and every day of school this year. That's 180 days which leaves another 185 days that they need to be challenged and led in what it means to Abide in Jesus.
I'm so excited for what God will do in the lives of our students and in our community this school year. Join me in praying that God will protect our school and that we will see His goodness and beauty in new and exciting ways.
Gracefully,
Nate
