Longing for Home and Celebrating Community

By Nate D. Long, Head of School

Reflections on Home and Homecoming

I love traveling and getting to see new places, cultures, and God's creativity in new ways. A few weeks ago, I traveled with our seniors to Costa Rica on their annual class trip. Although I've been before, I'm always amazed at the new things I get to experience whenever I'm away from home. Inevitably however, halfway through my time away I have a natural urging to be home. I miss the place that makes me feel most loved and cared for, and I want to be back with the people I love most.

As followers of Jesus, we too have a natural longing in us to be at home. Our home, we know through God's promises, is with Him in eternity. We have a natural longing for this because we were created to be in relationship with our Creator. While we wait in anticipation of this homecoming one day, God has given us a daily opportunity to be a part of His plans on earth. What a privilege it is to be a part of His story and use the gifts he has given us to glorify Him.

Gracefully,

Nate
